The latest edition of the BRE guidance, Site Layout Planning for Daylight and Sunlight: A Guide to Good Practice (3rd edition, 2022), updates the methodology to align with the British Standard BS EN 17037:2018, placing greater emphasis on achieving good internal daylight for new homes and ensuring existing buildings are not unduly affected.

Once instructed, we will undertake enhanced computer modelling to establish the the perceived impacts using our specialist daylight and sunlight software.

Step 02

Strategy

Once the analysis is complete, engage with the planning consultant and architect to report the results and understand the strategy for planning submission which will include design workshops to help reduce any adverse impacts.
